Biography
Aksel Erbahar is Associate Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics at ÃÀÅ®¸£ÀûµçÓ°ÔºÎçÒ¹ and a research fellow at the Tinbergen Institute. His research lies at the intersection of international trade and political economy, with a focus on trade policy. He is particularly interested in how trade barriers shape global value chains and how lobbying and geopolitical shocks influence trade dynamics. He is a co-author of the World Bank’s Temporary Trade Barriers Database.
Aksel previously worked as a consultant at the World Bank and for the UK Trade Remedies Authority, and served as a Visiting Fellow at the Asian Development Bank. At Erasmus School of Economics, he teaches courses in international trade policy and firms in international trade at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
