Biography

Jop is a Lecturer in Social and Behavioural Sciences whose work integrates research and teaching on the politics of Israel-Palestine and the wider Middle East. His research examines citizenship, coexistence, technology and surveillance, and civil–military relations, with a focus on how these forces shape political authority, social life, and conflict in contested spaces.

His teaching centers on statecraft and political science, both in comparative perspective and with particular attention to the Middle East. He provides students with analytical tools to critically assess the practices of governance, the exercise of power, and the interplay between local dynamics and global politics.

As an interdisciplinary scholar, Jop draws on political sociology, critical theory, and international studies to interrogate the intersections of power, identity, and state formation. In addition, he has published on pedagogy and the teaching of critical world citizenship, reflecting a commitment to fostering intellectually rigorous and globally engaged classrooms.
