Biography

Mara Fennema is a PhD candidate at the , a research team with a shared interest in young people, digital media, and wellbeing. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and a Master's degree in Pedagogical Sciences from ÃÀÅ®¸£ÀûµçÓ°ÔºÎçÒ¹.

Mara's PhD project focuses on how phone measures in the home context—such as screen time limits or discussions about screen use—affect the physical, social, and mental well-being of adolescents. She zooms in on the question: which phone measures work, for whom, and in which context? Through participatory action research, adolescents and their caregivers are actively involved in the research process. The ultimate goal is to develop a toolbox with evidence-based phone measures that are tailored to adolescents' characteristics and diverse home contexts, and that truly help and support adolescents in healthy phone use. 

This project is part of the At Home and in the Locker-project (), a collaboration between Radboud University, ÃÀÅ®¸£ÀûµçÓ°ÔºÎçÒ¹, and societal organisations.
