Biography

Iris van Dongen is a PhD candidate at the ÃÀÅ®¸£ÀûµçÓ°ÔºÎçÒ¹ (Erasmus School of Social and Behavioral Sciences).

In her doctoral research, she focuses on integrated decision-making: a process that entails the coordination of actors and (governmental) agencies from adjacent domains and one that seeks to incorporate value perspectives. She takes a special interest in what happens from the moment integrative ambitions are formulated up until the implementation stage and beyond.

Before starting her PhD at the Erasmus university, Iris completed her Bachelor’s in Forest and Nature Conservation at Wageningen University & Research, followed by a double Master’s program in Aquaculture and Marine Resources Management as well as Landscape Architecture & Spatial Planning, also at Wageningen University & Research. In her Master’s theses, she explored the potential of multifunctional use of offshore wind parks and examined cross-transitional learning on the Wadden Island Ameland.

In addition to her research, Iris supervises Bachelor students in the Thesis course and has a seat at the table in the Erasmus Graduate School Council where she advocates PhD interests and contributes by discussing developments relevant to the graduate school.
