dr. A (Adriani) Dori, LL.M

Biography

I am a legal scholar with over 20 years of experience in funded research, project design, and management at leading European institutions, including the University of Heidelberg, the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg, ÃÀÅ®¸£ÀûµçÓ°ÔºÎçÒ¹, and the European Law Institute.

My educational background includes a law degree and an LL.M. in civil procedural law, civil law, and legal history from the Democritus University of Thrace (Greece), as well as a second LL.M. in German and European procedural law from the Ruprecht Karl University of Heidelberg (Germany). At Heidelberg, I also completed my PhD (summa cum laude), focusing on the role of soft law in shaping national justice systems

My work is interdisciplinary, bridging EU law innovation, comparative and European procedural law, private international law, empirical legal studies, judicial performance evaluation, strategic litigation, and soft law within the European Area of Freedom, Security, and Justice (AFSJ). I particularly focus on how EU justice policies reshape national procedures and drive reforms that balance the rule of law, efficiency, and access to justice.

I have published and edited multiple books and overseen the publication of high-profile research through leading publishers, reflecting a longstanding commitment to advancing legal scholarship.

I am a founding Board Member of the European Civil Justice Centre at ÃÀÅ®¸£ÀûµçÓ°ÔºÎçÒ¹, where I contribute to its strategic agenda, foster collaborations for policy-relevant research, and mentor early-career researchers.

In parallel, I serve as Managing Editor of the Max Planck Encyclopedia of Comparative Constitutional Law (MPECCoL). Beyond academia, I am a qualified lawyer (Athens Bar Association) and have lectured in English and German.

I am a native Greek speaker, fluent in English (with 15 years of professional experience in English-speaking environments) and German (as a German citizen). Having moved to Italy for personal reasons, I am currently improving my Italian.
