Biography

Juliana Alcantara is a lecturer at ÃÀÅ®¸£ÀûµçÓ°ÔºÎçÒ¹, where she is responsible for teaching, monitoring and supervising master's and bachelor's Theses. PhD in Communication Sciences at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra (FLUC). In 2023, she was a visiting PhD scholar at ÃÀÅ®¸£ÀûµçÓ°ÔºÎçÒ¹, and in 2022, she was also at the University of Utrecht, in the Netherlands Research School of Gender Studies (NOG). She holds a master's degree in Journalism and Communication from FLUC, having carried out academic mobility at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. In 2018/2019, she was honoured with the Top 3% of the Student Award. She also has a postgraduate degree in Business Communication and Higher ÃÀÅ®¸£ÀûµçÓ°ÔºÎçÒ¹ Teaching, and a bachelor's in Social Communication with a major in Journalism. As a media professional, Alcantara has more than ten years of experience as a public relations and journalist in the Brazilian news media. Her PhD thesis was funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and focused on gender and journalism in the context of the COVID-19 public health crisis. Among her latest publications are articles published in Journalism, Journalism Practice, and the International Journal of Communication.
